Brighton is the county seat of Adams County, and at about 4,987 feet it sits lower and more open to the sky than the cities closer to the foothills. It began in 1887 as a farming and railroad town on the plains northeast of Denver, and the downtown that grew around the depot has been the center of the community for well over a century. Barr Lake State Park, 2,715 acres of water and wildlife refuge where bald eagles winter, sits just outside town.
Farm country makes for wide sky and few tall trees. The newer Brighton subdivisions growing around The Prairie Center are built on former open land, and the saplings in those yards will not shade a window for years. Sun hits the glass from sunrise to sunset with nothing in the way. Sunrooms, covered patios with glass walls, walk-out basements and sliding doors take the worst of it.

Sliding doors and walk-out basements. Afternoon heat, all afternoon.
On an open Brighton lot, a west-facing sliding door is a heat lamp from about 3pm to sunset. A walk-out basement with a full glass wall to the backyard does the same thing one floor down, and that room is often the one with the TV and the guests.

The homes around Brighton's historic downtown are the older stock in the city, and older glass is often single-pane. That is good news for film: almost every film we install qualifies on single-pane glass under 100 sq ft per pane.
