Small city. Close neighbors.

Federal Heights is a compact corner of western Adams County. Most of its houses are postwar: small ranches, plus the split-levels and bi-levels that line the streets of Northborough Heights. It also holds several manufactured-home communities, Holiday Hills Village and Kimberly Hills among them, and Water World sits inside the city limits.

A city that compact means the house across the street is close, and so is the one next door. The living room picture window on an older ranch looks straight out at the sidewalk. Privacy is the request we hear first in Federal Heights, and heat on the west wall is the one we hear second. ikonic is based in Thornton, and Federal Heights is in the north metro where most of our work happens. No showroom. We come to you.

Daytime privacy. The honest night answer.

A one-way film like Silver 20 at $10 per sq ft or Cool Alloy 20 at $12 per sq ft turns a street-facing window into mirror glass by day. People walking past see the sky. You see out as usual.

At night it flips. When the lights are on inside and it is dark outside, the film reverses and the room is visible again. Nobody should sell you a one-way film as 24-hour privacy. If you need the window covered after dark, the answers are Frost or Whiteout at $11 per sq ft, which blur the view both ways day and night, or a one-way film with the curtains closed in the evening. Both answers are honest. We show you both on the estimate.

Original glass. Fading floors.

A postwar ranch or split-level that still has its first windows probably has single-pane glass. Single pane is easy for film: the manufacturer allows most films on single pane under 100 square feet, with no coating to argue with.

The problem with original glass is what it lets through. At Front Range altitude, the sun that comes through a south or west window fades hardwood, rugs and upholstery faster than the same furniture would see at lower altitude. A near-clear film blocks up to 99% of UV without changing the look of the room. Ultra View 5 at $11 per sq ft or Pristine Ceramic 70 at $16 per sq ft are the usual picks. If the windows have been replaced with dual pane, the 40 square foot limit applies instead, and we check the coating.

Split-levels and bi-levels. The low room bakes.

Northborough Heights is full of split-level and bi-level homes, and they share a problem. The lower level sits half below grade with its windows at lawn height, often on the west side of the house. That family room is the one that heats up first and holds the heat longest.

A solar film on those lower windows takes the heat and glare at the glass. Silver 20 at $10 per sq ft is the workhorse. Pristine Ceramic 40 at $15 per sq ft does the same job with a neutral look and no metal. Either one puts a lighter load on your AC without touching the ductwork.

Manufactured homes. Ask before you assume.

Window film goes on glass, not on the house around it, so a manufactured home in Holiday Hills Village or Kimberly Hills can be filmed like any other. We still check the glass pane by pane. One thing to know up front: there is a $400 job minimum, and a small home with a few windows may land at that number. We tell you before we book, not after.

Window film for Federal Heights homes

Every rate is on the rate card and glass checker. This is a rate card, not a quote.

We check your glass before we pick a film.

  • Single pane under 100 sq ft. Dual pane under 40 sq ft. Triple pane treated like dual pane.
  • Clear glass under 3/8 inch thick.
  • Odd-shaped windows over 25 sq ft and uneven exterior shading void the warranty.
  • If a film is not safe on your glass, we say so and recommend something that is. Check your glass.

Every install carries the manufacturer's film warranty plus ikonic's workmanship guarantee. The glass limits above are what keep that warranty valid.
