Home window film fixes the things blinds can't. The west room nobody uses after 3pm. Glare on the TV. Hardwood going pale by the patio door. A neighbor who can see straight in. ikonic installs residential window film across the north metro and Denver. We look at your actual glass, tell you which films are safe on it, and leave one written quote.

Four problems. One kind of fix.

Heat and glare

West-facing room unusable after 3pm? Solar film cuts the heat coming through the glass and takes the edge off glare, so the room works all afternoon. Lighter shades keep the view. Lighter load on your AC in July. Read about heat and glare film.

UV and fading

Floors, rugs, sofas and art near the glass fade because sunlight hits them every day. Film blocks up to 99% of UV, the main cause of that fading. Near-clear options exist. Read about UV and fade protection.

Privacy

Reflective one-way film gives daytime privacy on street- and neighbor-facing windows without closing the blinds. The honest part: at night, with the lights on inside, it reverses and people outside can see in. For privacy around the clock, Frost or Whiteout blocks the view both ways. Read about privacy film and frosted and decorative film.

Security

Guardian security film is a tear-resistant layer bonded to the glass. If the pane breaks, the film holds the pieces in the frame and slows forced entry. It does not make glass unbreakable. Sidelights, sliding doors and basement windows are where it earns its keep. Read about security film.

Colorado sun. Colorado winters.

Denver sits a mile up. Thinner air means stronger sun and stronger UV on your glass. South-facing windows get it most of the day. West-facing windows get it hottest, late in the afternoon, right when you want the room. That is why the rooms people call us about are almost always on the west or south side.

Winter is the other half. Solar film's job is summer. Low-E film options help hold room warmth in when it is cold outside. They are not a fix for a failed seal, a draft or a fogged pane, and we will say so at the estimate.

Residential film options. Every rate published.

These are the films we install on homes and the rate we charge per square foot of glass. $400 job minimum. The full rate card and glass checker is on one page.

Silver 20, 30 and 40. $10 per sq ft. Reflective solar film at the lowest rate on the card. Cuts heat, adds daytime privacy, looks like mirror glass from outside in daylight.

Ultra View 5, 15, 25 and 35. $11 per sq ft. Neutral solar film in four shades, lighter-looking than Silver.

Bronze 20 and 35. $12 per sq ft. Warm-toned solar film for homes where bronze suits the exterior.

Cool Alloy 20, 35 and 60. $12 per sq ft. Neutral, low-glare finish. Cool Alloy 60 is the lightest of the three and keeps the view.

Nature 10, 20 and 30. $14 per sq ft. Interior solar film in three shades.

Pristine Ceramic 30, 40 and 50, $15 per sq ft. Pristine Ceramic 70 and 80, $16. Neutral, non-metal ceramic solar film. Cuts heat without a mirror look; the 70 and 80 shades stay close to clear. Not a security film.

X-Series. Silver 15 and 35, $14 per sq ft. Cool Alloy 20 and 40, $15. Goes on the outside of the glass where an interior film can't safely go. Edge sealing required, $2 per lineal ft.

Ext Pristine 70 and 80, $18 per sq ft. Zen SSX 55, $18. Exterior films rated at 9% and 10% exterior reflectance. Safer for turf below reflective windows and the calm choice for a strict HOA. Edge sealing required, $2 per lineal ft.

Frost, Whiteout and Blackout. $11 per sq ft. Frost and Whiteout let light through and block the view both ways, day and night. Blackout blocks light and goes only on tempered single-pane glass. Cut vinyl and custom designs are quoted separately.

Guardian 4mil Clear, 8mil Clear, 8mil Silver and 12mil. $20 per sq ft. Security film. Edge sealing required, $4 per lineal ft. No film is ever charged both edge-sealing rates.

We check your glass before we pick a film.

Film changes how much heat your glass absorbs. The wrong film on the wrong glass heats the pane unevenly and puts it under stress. On a dual pane, that stress can crack the glass or break the seal between the panes.

So we identify your glass first: single, dual or triple pane, clear or factory-tinted, coated or not, tempered or not. Then we check it against the film manufacturer's chart of 972 film-and-glass combinations. Every pairing gets one of three results: approved, use caution, or not safe.

What "not safe" means. The chart says that film should not go on that glass, and the film warranty would not cover it. We will not install it, whatever the price, and we recommend a film the chart approves instead. "Use caution" means approved only within the six limits below.

The six limits that keep the warranty valid:

  • Single-pane glass under 100 square feet per pane
  • Dual-pane glass under 40 square feet per pane
  • Clear glass under 3/8 inch thick
  • Odd-shaped windows over 25 square feet void the warranty
  • Uneven shading from outside, like a tree across part of the glass, voids the warranty
  • Triple pane treated like dual pane, an ikonic in-house rule

These limits only make a result more restrictive. They never turn a "not safe" or "use caution" into an approval. Film also stays off wired glass, cracked or chipped glass, glass fogged between the panes, and glass that already has film on it. If a film is not safe on your glass, we say so and recommend something that is. Check your glass with the chart we use, or read Is your window safe for film? A Denver homeowner's guide.

One visit. Every edge finished.

  1. Free in-home estimate. We look at your actual windows.
  2. Glass check against the manufacturer's chart.
  3. One written quote, every cost accounted for.
  4. Install, most homes in a single visit, floors protected, every edge finished.

What install day looks like. We cover floors and furniture near the glass before any film comes out. Each window is cleaned, the film goes on wet, gets squeegeed flat, and every edge is trimmed and finished. Most homes are done in a single visit. Film cures over the following weeks, so a little haze at first is normal and clears on its own. The first 30 days of care post covers what to expect.

Every install carries the manufacturer's film warranty plus ikonic's workmanship guarantee. The glass limits above are what keep that warranty valid. Ask us for the manufacturer's warranty document for the film you choose.

$10 to $20 a square foot. Published, not hidden.

To rough out your own number: width in inches times height in inches, divided by 144, is square feet. Add up the windows and multiply by the rate. Under $400 total, the job is $400. Edge sealing applies to exterior, X-Series and Guardian films. Glass beyond safe reach from the floor is quoted separately. Travel may apply outside the Denver metro. This is a rate card, not a quote. The home window tinting cost in Denver page has three worked examples. Still deciding? Start with is window film worth it.
