The short answer. Then the long one.

Home window tinting in Denver costs $10 to $20 per square foot of glass with ikonic, depending on the film you choose. Solar and heat-control films run $10 to $14. Ceramic runs $15 to $16. Frosted films are $11. Security film is $20. Every job carries a $400 minimum. A few films also need edge sealing, billed per lineal foot on top of the film rate.

That is the whole formula. Square feet of glass, times the rate for the film, plus edge sealing where the film requires it, never below $400. Everything below shows each number and three worked examples so you can run your own house before we ever knock on the door.

The rates. Published, not hidden.

Every film we install and what it costs per square foot of glass. Rates come straight from our full rate card and glass checker.

Cut vinyl and custom designs on frosted film are quoted separately. Solar films for daytime privacy use the solar rates above. This is a rate card, not a quote.

What moves the number. Four things.

Every quote we write comes down to four inputs. Nothing else is hiding in it.

  • Film type. The rate per square foot runs from $10 for Silver to $20 for Guardian security film. A ceramic film costs more per foot than a metal film. A lighter shade and a darker shade of the same film cost the same.
  • Window count and size. We charge by the square foot of glass, so more glass means a bigger number. Six small bedroom windows can cost less than one large picture window.
  • Edge sealing. Exterior films and X-Series films need edge sealing at $2 per lineal foot. Guardian security films need it at $4 per lineal foot. Interior solar, ceramic, frosted and anti-graffiti films do not need it. No film is ever charged both rates.
  • Glass access. Glass beyond safe reach from the floor, such as a high stairwell window or a glass skylight, is assessed and quoted separately after we see it.

Three rules sit on top of those four inputs:

  • $400 job minimum. If the math comes out under $400, the job is $400.
  • Travel. Travel may apply outside the Denver metro. We tell you before we book.
  • Blackout film is approved only on tempered single-pane glass. We confirm the glass before quoting it.

Measure your own windows. Two minutes.

You can get close to your own number before we visit. You need a tape measure and the list of windows you want done.

  1. Measure the glass on each window, width and height, in inches.
  2. Multiply width by height, then divide by 144. That is the square feet of that window.
  3. Add up every window you want done.
  4. Multiply the total by the rate for the film you are leaning toward.
  5. If the film needs edge sealing, add the perimeter of each window in feet (width plus height, times two) and multiply by $2 or $4.
  6. If the result is under $400, the job is $400.

Example, before we see your glass. One bathroom window, 24 in by 36 in, in Frost. 24 × 36 = 864. 864 ÷ 144 = 6 sq ft. 6 × $11 = $66. That is under the minimum, so the job is $400. Adding a second frosted window costs nothing extra until the total passes $400.

Run your own number. Then let us check the glass.

Example, before we see your glass. This is a rate card, not a quote.

Edge sealing not needed on this film.

Width in inches × height in inches ÷ 144, added up for every window.

Three worked examples. Real math, not a range.

Each example is labeled the way it should be read. We have not seen this glass. The real quote comes after we check it.

Example 1. A west-facing sliding patio door in Pristine Ceramic 40

Example, before we see your glass. A standard sliding door, 72 in wide by 80 in tall, two panels. 72 × 80 = 5,760. 5,760 ÷ 144 = 40 sq ft. Each panel is 20 sq ft, under the 40 sq ft dual-pane limit. 40 sq ft × $15 per sq ft (Pristine Ceramic 40) = $600. No edge sealing on an interior ceramic film. Example total: $600.

Example 2. Six bedroom windows in Silver 20

Example, before we see your glass. Six windows, each 36 in by 48 in. 36 × 48 = 1,728. 1,728 ÷ 144 = 12 sq ft each. 6 × 12 = 72 sq ft. 72 sq ft × $10 per sq ft (Silver 20) = $720. No edge sealing on an interior solar film. Example total: $720.

Example 3. A glass panel beside the front door in Guardian 8mil Clear

Example, before we see your glass. One sidelight, 3 ft wide by 6 ft tall. 3 × 6 = 18 sq ft. 18 sq ft × $20 per sq ft (Guardian 8mil Clear) = $360. Edge sealing is required on Guardian. Perimeter is (3 + 6) × 2 = 18 lineal ft. 18 × $4 = $72. $360 + $72 = $432. That clears the $400 minimum, so the example total is $432.

Why we publish this. Every rate, in the open.

Search this question and you usually get a wide range and a phone number. A range that wide tells you little, and the phone call is where the real price appears.

We publish the rate for every film, the minimum, both edge-sealing rates and every rule that changes the number. You can run the math on your own house tonight. When we arrive, the only thing that changes is which films are safe on your glass.

We also publish what we do not claim. We do not publish savings we cannot measure in your house. We say "lighter load on your AC," not a percentage. And we do not pretend two films at the same price are interchangeable. The manufacturer's chart is about your glass, not the price. Two $11 films can get two different safety results on the same window, and we tell you which one passes.

How the free estimate works. Four steps.

  1. Free in-home estimate. We look at your actual windows, the ones you want done, in daylight if we can.
  2. Glass check. We identify the glass and check it against the manufacturer's chart of 972 film-and-glass combinations.
  3. One written quote. Every cost accounted for: film, edge sealing where required, out-of-reach glass, travel if any. No second version later.
  4. Install. Most homes are finished in a single visit. Floors and furniture protected. Every edge finished.

You do not need to know your glass type before you call. That is the point of the visit. If you want a head start, the full rate card and glass checker lets you answer what you know. Not sure film makes sense at all? Read whether film is worth it for your house first.

We check your glass before we pick a film.

Price is the second question. Safety is the first. Before we recommend anything, we check your windows against the manufacturer's chart of 972 film-and-glass combinations. The limits we follow:

  • Single-pane glass under 100 sq ft.
  • Dual-pane glass under 40 sq ft per pane.
  • Clear glass under 3/8 in thick.
  • Odd-shaped windows over 25 sq ft void the warranty.
  • Uneven exterior shading voids the warranty.
  • Triple pane is treated like dual pane, with the same 40 sq ft cap.

If a film is not safe on your glass, we say so and recommend something that is. Check your glass.

Every install carries the manufacturer's film warranty plus ikonic's workmanship guarantee. The glass limits above are what keep that warranty valid.
