Thornton. Our home turf.

ikonic is based in Thornton. The person who quotes your windows lives in the city you do. There is no showroom. We come to your house, look at the actual glass, and leave one written quote.

ikonic installs window film on homes and storefronts. We do not tint cars.

Thornton is two cities in one, and the windows tell the story. The original neighborhood laid out by Sam Hoffman in 1953, the first fully planned community in Adams County, is still a district of modest ranch-style brick homes. The city calls it Original Thornton. Eastlake is the other historic pocket. North of there, the city has grown for decades in waves of curving streets and detached single-family homes, out to the golf-course subdivisions around Todd Creek and the newer 55-plus streets of Heritage Todd Creek. Thornton now stretches across Adams County and into Weld County at roughly 5,210 feet, and it is where most of our work happens.

Two housing eras means two different film conversations. We have both of them every week.

Older brick ranches. Fading floors and original glass.

A 1950s or 1960s Thornton ranch often still has its original single-pane glass, or a mix of original and replacement windows. Single-pane glass is the easiest case in the compatibility chart. Almost every film we install qualifies on it, up to 100 square feet per pane.

The problem in these homes is rarely the glass. It is what the sun does through it. A south- or west-facing picture window pours UV and heat across hardwood, rugs and the sofa every afternoon. Colorado's altitude makes that sun harder on furniture than it is at sea level.

Film blocks up to 99% of UV. On original single-pane glass, a near-clear film like Ultra View 5 at $11 per sq ft stops the fading without changing how the window looks. If heat is the bigger complaint, Silver 20 at $10 per sq ft or Cool Alloy 35 at $12 per sq ft cut heat and glare and keep the view.

One honest note for older streets: if a tree shades part of a pane for part of the day, that uneven exterior shading voids the film warranty. We look for it on the estimate and tell you.

Newer Thornton subdivisions. Dual-pane glass and the 40 sq ft rule.

Newer homes on the north side of Thornton, including the streets around Todd Creek, come with dual-pane and often low-E glass. That glass is better at holding heat in and out, and it changes what film is safe.

  • Dual-pane glass must be under 40 square feet per pane for the film to stay in warranty.
  • Triple-pane glass is treated like dual-pane. Same 40 square foot cap.
  • Low-E coatings and factory tints change which films the manufacturer's chart approves.
  • A large patio slider or a two-story great-room window can be over the cap. We measure before we quote.

On approved dual-pane glass, Pristine Ceramic 40 at $15 per sq ft is a neutral, non-metal film that cuts heat without a mirror look. Ultra View 35 at $11 per sq ft is the lighter, budget option. If a pane fails the chart, we say so and recommend something that passes.

Golf-course lots and open backyards. Privacy in the daytime.

A fairway or an open-space lot means nothing behind you but sky, and a lot of glass to enjoy it. It also means anyone on the path can see in during the day.

Silver 20 at $10 per sq ft gives one-way daytime privacy on the back of the house. Be clear on the trade: one-way films reverse at night when the lights are on inside. For 24-hour privacy on a bathroom or a bedroom, Frost at $11 per sq ft blurs the glass day and night and still lets light in.

Film recommendations for Thornton homes

  • Heat and glare: Silver 20 $10, Ultra View 35 $11, Cool Alloy 35 $12, Pristine Ceramic 40 $15 per sq ft. Heat and glare film.
  • UV and fading: Ultra View 5 $11, Pristine Ceramic 70 and 80 $16 per sq ft. UV and fade protection.
  • Daytime privacy: Silver 20 $10, Cool Alloy 20 $12 per sq ft. Privacy film.
  • Frosted, day and night: Frost or Whiteout $11 per sq ft. Frosted and decorative film.
  • Security: Guardian 4mil, 8mil or 12mil $20 per sq ft plus $4 per lineal ft edge sealing. Security film.
  • Storefront tint in Thornton: solar films $10 to $14, anti-graffiti Clear Defense 4mil $12 per sq ft. Storefront tint.

Example, before we see your glass: one 5 ft by 6 ft picture window in an Original Thornton ranch is 30 sq ft. Ultra View 5 at $11 per sq ft comes to $330. The job minimum is $400, so the job is $400. Add a second window and the minimum stops mattering. What home window tinting costs in Thornton.

$400 job minimum. This is a rate card, not a quote.

We check your glass before we pick a film.

We identify your glass and check it against the manufacturer's chart of 972 film-and-glass combinations before we recommend anything.

  • Single-pane glass under 100 sq ft.
  • Dual-pane glass under 40 sq ft. Triple-pane treated the same.
  • Clear glass under 3/8 inch thick.
  • Odd-shaped windows over 25 sq ft void the warranty.
  • Uneven exterior shading voids the warranty.
  • Blackout film only on tempered single-pane glass.

If a film is not safe on your glass, we say so and recommend something that is. Check your glass.

Every install carries the manufacturer's film warranty plus ikonic's workmanship guarantee. The glass limits above are what keep that warranty valid.
