Neighbors close by. Privacy in the daytime.
Northglenn was built all at once. Perl-Mack opened five model homes on a 280-acre pre-planned subdivision in June 1959, and by October 1962 there were 3,000 homes and 10,000 residents. The city incorporated in 1969. Most of Northglenn is still that original plan: ranch and split-level homes on curving streets, sitting at about 5,364 feet in Adams County, with the N Line station at 112th on the east side.
A planned 1959 subdivision has a particular window problem. Houses sit close together, front windows face the street, side windows face the neighbor's side windows, and back windows look straight into the yard behind. Blinds fix it by killing the daylight. Film fixes it and keeps the light.
That is the most common reason a Northglenn homeowner calls us. Heat and fading are next. Here is how each one works on a house of this era.
Street-facing living rooms. One-way film, and the honest limit.
The front room of a Northglenn ranch usually carries the biggest window in the house, and it faces the sidewalk. Silver 20 at $10 per sq ft turns that glass reflective from outside during the day. You see out. Passers-by see the sky.
The honest limit: one-way film works because it is brighter outside than inside. At night, with the lamps on, that flips and the room shows from the street. Close the curtains after dark, or choose a film that does not depend on light. If a lower-mirror look matters to you, Cool Alloy 20 at $12 per sq ft is the less reflective one-way option.
Side windows, bathrooms and bedrooms. Privacy day and night.
When the neighbor's window is a few feet from yours, one-way film is not enough, because the reversal at night is exactly when a bedroom needs privacy most. Frost at $11 per sq ft blurs the glass in both directions, 24 hours a day, and still lets the room stay bright. Whiteout at $11 per sq ft does the same with a solid white look.
Bathroom glass in these homes is often small and sometimes textured or tempered. Frost goes on most of it. Blackout at $11 per sq ft, which blocks light entirely, is approved only on tempered single-pane glass. We confirm what you have before we quote it.
Original glass or replacement windows. We look, we do not guess.
Some Northglenn homes still carry their 1959-era single-pane glass. Many have had replacement dual-pane windows put in at some point in the last several decades. Often a house has both. That matters, because the film that is safe on one is not always safe on the other.
- Single-pane glass: almost every film qualifies, under 100 sq ft per pane.
- Replacement dual-pane glass: under 40 sq ft per pane, and the manufacturer's chart decides which films pass.
- Low-E replacement glass narrows the list further.
On the west-facing back of the house, where the afternoon sun lands on the kitchen and the patio door, Ultra View 35 at $11 per sq ft or Pristine Ceramic 40 at $15 per sq ft cut the heat and keep the view. For fading on hardwood and furniture, every film we install blocks up to 99% of UV.

Silver 20 on the front at $10 per sq ft is $300. Frost on the bedrooms at $11 per sq ft is $264. Example total $564. What home window tinting costs in Northglenn.

We check your glass before we pick a film.
Before any film is recommended, we identify your glass and check it against the manufacturer's chart of 972 film-and-glass combinations.
- Single-pane under 100 sq ft. Dual-pane under 40 sq ft. Triple-pane treated like dual-pane.
- Clear glass under 3/8 inch thick.
- Odd shapes over 25 sq ft and uneven exterior shading void the warranty.
- Blackout only on tempered single-pane glass.
If a film is not safe on your glass, we say so and recommend something that is. Check your glass.
Every install carries the manufacturer's film warranty plus ikonic's workmanship guarantee. The glass limits above are what keep that warranty valid.
